Thank you, Assemblyman Alfano

The following message was received by The Sentinel 11040 this morning,

Greetings Sentinel:

Just a quick note to say thanks for the Blog post. This is an important issue for everyone in New Hyde Park. Rest assured, the New Hyde Park community is in the forefront of my mind in this matter with Floral Park and the West Hempstead community's threat of LIRR weekend closure. I would, however, caution the Sentinel and its readers who contacted you that they are reacting to a Floral Park newspaper that covers Floral Park news- not New Hyde Park. While I understand the concerns of some of your blog readers in reading the article, they should not take any offense to a legislator not discussing communities not being covered in a local paper that reports news from areas on it's masthead. In fact, I would point to the opening paragraph that you actually highlight where it says " Assemblyman Tom Alfano called the news of the possible closing of the Floral Park and New Hyde Park Long Island Rail Road ticket stations "outrageous and completely unacceptable." Clearly, my concern could not be more clear. And, I thank the Sentinel for highlighting this important opening sentence that makes my position crystal clear for New Hyde Park. Right now, the West Hempstead branch is slated for weekend closure. Certainly a discussion of West Hempstead's branch would not be reported in the Dispatch. It isn't because it is not covered in that paper. Most importantly, I want to thank the Sentinel for continuing to bring these issues to the forefront and allowing me to clarify and respond to the blog. And, please join my email petition everyone working together can help us put a stop to this wrong choice by LIRR-MTA!

Happy New Year!
