Working Hard for His Constituents...

Contrary to a recent email blitz by the NY State Republican Committee, Senator Craig Johnson, who represents the 7th Senate District which includes New Hyde Park, said that he was opposed to the Ravitch plan's proposals to "bail out" the MTA by charging tolls on two East River bridges as well as a payroll tax on all municipalities that are serviced by the MTA.

"I have no confidence in the MTA," Johnson said. "I have concerns about the real need for tolls and a payroll tax." As late as yesterday (March 31st), Senator Johnson voted AGAINST both the proposed tolls and the payroll tax in an effort to protect Long Island commuters, especially those from the 7th Senate district, who would be unfairly targeted and burdened.

COMMENTARY

These difficult times demand a bipartisan effort with the best interests of the NYS taxpayer as priority. Shame on those who try to distort the truth to gain a seemingly political edge. In the last election, taxpayers voted against the candidates who relied on negative campaigning and distortions of the truth when they voted to change the NYS Senate majority for the first time in 40 years!
Kudos to Senator Johnson for listening to his constituents and for keeping the best interests of the 7th Senate District as his top priority.
